Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur thanked the Union Government for releasing Rs. 64.49 crore for the state under National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for winter losses occurred during last winter season for undertaking the restoration and other works.
Jai Ram Thakur said that this was the second time that the state government had received funds for winter losses. Earlier state government had received funds under NDRF in 2014.
Chief Minister said that union government had provided adequate helicopter services and other assistance to the state government on his request immediately for evacuating the stranded tourists and local persons from Lahaul-Spiti district and other tribal areas during last winter season caused due to sudden excessive snowfall.Jai Ram Thakur said that the state government had also got Rs. 312 crore for the losses caused by monsoon-2018 under NDRF.
Chief Minister said that this shows the concern of the union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the well being and welfare of the people of the state.
Jai Ram Thakur said that state had suffered immense losses during current monsoon season and state government had released Rs. 15 crore immediately for undertaking relief and restoration works so that the people of the state do not suffer due to natural calamities. He said that state government would urge the union government to send a central team at the earliest to take on the spot assessment of losses so that central assistance.
