Solan: An Industrial Dialogue cum Bio-resource Conference was held today under the Chairmanship of Member Secretary HP State Biodiversity Board (HPSBB) D.C. Rana. The conference was organised by in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) at Le Mariet, Baddi, District Solan.
While presiding over the conference he said that Himachal Pradesh is a huge contributor in the global biological resource market and has a clear advantage over availability of Bio-resources. He said that being the major player in the biological resource sector due to the presence of number of endemic species, there is a huge potential of socio-economic upliftment of the rural population. He said that this can be achieved through coordinated efforts by various Government Departments i.e. Industry, R&D Institutions and the Academia in consultation and collaboration with HP State Biodiversity Board.
He said that this ‘Bio-resource Conference’ focused and addressed all the sensitive and critical issues that are necessary for the economic transformation of people in Himachal Pradesh. He said that it is the need of hour to focus on conservation of Biodiversity and all its valuable components. Former Chairman National Biodiversity Authority Chennai Prof. P.L. Gautam, former DG NBPGR, Prof. Pushpa Kumar Lakshmanan, Chairman CII, Himachal Pradesh State Council, Col. Sailesh Pathak, Senior Scientifc Officer, HP State Biodiversity Board Shubhra Banerjee and other senior officials of the department participated in the conference.
