Himachal Agriculture University implemented online teaching methodology

Palampur: CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University has initiated online teaching programme for its students. Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Kumar Sarial,told that lockdown due to coronavirus has compelled the University to reframe its teaching strategy. After discussions with the Deans of four constituent colleges, an innovative online teaching methodology was planned and implemented in the last week of March.
He told that around 1500 undergraduate students of seven degree programs and 23 M.Sc. and Ph.D programs students of the University are taking online teaching for the courses offered during 2nd semester of the academic session 2019-20.Prof Sarial told that as per the feedback received from concerned Deans, most of the teachers are working from home and conducting classes through various software and mode of communication like MS 360, Zoom, WebEx, emails, Video conferencing, etc.
Teachers have formed WhatsApp groups for their courses and conducting classes regularly. EZ proxy, the online resource available in University Library,was being extensively used by the students and teachers .Till date, more around 950 user hits were recorded while around 130 e-books were searched. Agronomy department delivered maximum 41 lectures since lockdown.Vice-Chancellor disclosed that it is a new experience and students are also taking interest and sharing their learning through WhatsApp, video conferencing and emails etc.
Students and teachers are in constant touch with one another and utilizing lockdown period fruitfully while maintaining social distances and all government advisory. Vice-Chancellor said that Governor and Chancellor of University Bandaru Datatraya was also apprised about the online teaching initiatives of the University during video conferencing yesterday.
