Jai ram said-Public participation necessary to combat forest fires

Shimla: CM Jai Ram Thakur flagged off four Forest Fire Prevention and Control Awareness Vehicles from Oak Over here today.While interacting with the media on the occasion, CM said that since forest fires causes lot of damage to forest wealth and wildlife, it was essential that administrative and technical measures were taken to combat the forest fires. He said that these include both preventive and remedial measures. He said that since most of the forest fires were caused by human actions, thus participation of general public and local communities in prevention and management of such fires was very crucial.
Jai Ram Thakur said that sensitising the general public was important to combat forest fires. He said that to educate the people regarding forest fire this fire awareness campaign would be continued till 20th of March, 2020 in five sensitive areas of different forest divisions. He said that exhibitions interactive sessions and street plays would be held under this campaign in different parts of the State to motivate the people to extend their cooperation in preventing and controlling forest fires. He urged the people to give their wholehearted support to make the campaign a success so that precious forest wealth of the state could be prevented from fire.
