Mcleod Ganj : The Dalai Lama gets a rousing welcome in Mcleod Ganj this morning after concluding his Chandigarh visit. Thousands of Tibetans and well-wishers turned out in the streets leading up to the main temple to welcome him home. During his brief two-day visit to Chandigarh, The Dalai Lama participated in the inauguration of Private University’s 11th Global Week 2019 and gave a talk on “The need for universal ethics in education’ to the faculty and students of the university. The Dalai Lama was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Literature Degree by the University before declaring the 11th Global Week open.
The next day, The Dalai Lama addressed the 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak’s celebration at University where he spoke on ‘Secular Ethics in Modern Education’. The Dalai Lama called out the gathering to embrace the virtues of love and compassion which he claimed is the basic human nature and also emphasised combining ancient Indian knowledge and modern education to bring about inner peace. The Dalai Lama upcoming schedule includes three-day teaching on Heart Sutra (Sherab Nyingpo) at the Main Tibetan Temple at the request of Koreans from 4-6 November.
