Jogindernagar: Pathankot-Jogindernagar narrow gauge rail corridor is on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The final decision will be taken after the inspection of the corridor. The Railway was hopeful of getting the world heritage status for Pathankot-Jogindernagar rail line. A team of UNESCO will soon inspect the corridor and necessary amendments will be made. Kangra rail line covers distance of 160 km from Pathankot to Jogindernagar. The railway line was commissioned in 1929. At present, three narrow gauge rail corridor of India Kalka-Shimla, Siliguri-Darjeeling and Nilgiri Mountain Railway have been accorded the World Heritage Status. Northern Railway General Manager AK Puthia said that an application has been sent to UNESCO for granting world heritage status to the Kangra Valley Railway.
