CSKHPAU Palampur takes decisions to ease hardship to students

Palampur: Due to COVID-19 pandemic, CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University has taken several decisions to ease hardship to the students. According to Prof Ashok Kumar Sarial, Vice-Chancellor, a special meeting of the academic council was held recently to take stock of the situation arisen due to lockdown and economic hardships to the students and their parents. He told that it has been decided that the enhancement of fee for filling up online application for entrance test based admission for B.V.Sc & A.H., B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture M.Sc. Ag. & M.V.Sc. degree programmes and fee for submitting off line application for merit based admissions for B.Sc. Physical Sciences, B.Sc. Life Sciences, B.Tech.(Food Technology), B.Sc. (Hons.) Community Science and Doctoral programmes for Academic Year 2020-21 shall be withdrawn and remain same as per previous year as mentioned in Information Brochure and Prospectus for entrance based and merit based admissions for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of University for Academic Year 2019-20.
The Vice-Chancellor said that it has been decided that the balance fee will be reimbursed to those candidates who have already applied and deposited the enhanced fee for online or off line applications for both the programmes. For observing social distancing norms to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as per the instructions issued by the government, the centers of entrance test at different locations will be enhanced. Prof Sarial said that the academic council has also decided to enhance intake capacity in M.Sc. Agriculture degree programmes with ten additional seats. He said that to facilitate the maximum number of students to take admission in this prestigious University, self financing seats in various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will be retained so that the students were not compelled to move to private colleges with very high fee structure. Many of such colleges were not accredited by the ICAR. In order to avoid hardship to meritorious candidates, the admission of the students of SC and ST category is made on the 100 point scale roster system to various disciplines of Master’s degree programme.

The members of academic council thanked the State Government for permitting the University to recruit around 100 faculty members. Prof Ashok Kumar Sarial,Vice-Chancellor told that already 31 teachers have been recruited and 23 are likely to be appointed soon as the interview process was completed before lockdown. Prof Sarial said that many candidates have approached him to extend date for submission of applications for UG and PG programmes and the University will take sympathetic decision for extending the date for filling applications as cyber cafes were closed and students in remote areas were not able to reach common service centers. Moreover, recently lockdown has been extended in neighboring state making it difficult for students to apply.
