Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh): The mortal remains of Soldier Ankush Thakur were friday consigned to flames with full military honors in Himachal’s hamirpur district.The last rites were held at Ankush’s native village in Karohta. A gun salute was accorded to him before his body were buried at Karohta village in the district, as scores of people including family members bid a tearful adieu to Soldier Ankush Thakur who had made the supreme sacrifice on Monday. Officials from the armed forces, district administration officers,police personnel and elected representatives paid tributes and placed wreaths before the casket carrying the body of Soldier Ankush Thakur.
Panchayati Raj Minister Virendra Kanwar attended the funeral procession of the martyr, local MLA Kamlesh Kumari was also there.Before this, 21-year-old Martyred Soldier Ankush Thakur dead body reached Karohta, a village in Bhoranj subdivision of Hamirpur distt of Himachal on friday. Ankush Thakur killed in Indo-China clash at LAC.Sepoy was recruited to the Punjab Regiment in 2018 and was a resident of Karohta, a village in Bhoranj subdivision . His father and grandfather had also served in the Indian Army. 20 Indian soldiers were reported to have been killed in the violent clash between India and China on Monday night in the Galwan valley.
