Tibetan govt in exile commemorates 62nd anniversary of Tibetan National uprising day

McLeod Ganj : The Tibetan government in exile commemorates 62nd anniversary of Tibetan National uprising day. Sikyong Lobsang Sangay, ministers of his cabinet and members of the Tibetan parliament in-exile including few other dignitaries gather at the headquarters of Central Tibetan Administration here in north Indian hill town Dharamshala today.

CTA President Lobsang Sangay reads out the official statement of the Kashag. He also urges China to resume dialogue with the envoys of the Dalai Lama. He expresses his gratitude towards India, US, UN and other countries for supporting the cause of Tibet.
Dolma Tsering ,an MP in-exile says, “We are commemorating the 62nd National Uprising of Tibet. Its a celebration of inhuman suffering of the people inside Tibet and this is also story and commemoration of celebrating the sufferings the Tibetans underwent not only of body, mind and Soul but also of a culture and tradition and the world has to rise up and make China accountable for the sufferings that Tibetans have undergone.”
CTA President Lobsang sangay says, “Today is the 62nd anniversary of national uprising day. On this day thousands of tibetans in Tibet rose up to protest against the invasion and occupation of Tibet. According to Chinese sources 87thousand Tibetans were killed between the months of March 1959 and October 1960 so it is a day to remember how we lost our country Tibet and to remember Tibetan martyrs and 155 self-immolators…”
The event begins with the Tibetan national anthem. Later Tibetan artists perform patriotic songs followed by speeches of Sikyong and speaker of Tibetan parliament in-exile.
